Too Much Time on Their Hands

This is my first entry into this blog and it has some sports aspect in it, but the main focus is on the lack of common sense that PETA, Humane Society and other Tree Hugging fanatics have. This is in reference to an unfortunate accident, emphasis on accident that occured at a High School football game in Utah.

During a playoff game between two schools, a group of pranksters threw what appeared to be a juvenile pheasant on to the field to disrupt the visiting teams drive to score. Play had to be suspended while the pheasant was schooed off the field, subsequently flying or flailing into an assistant coach of the visiting team who placed his foot on the bird to secure it, but losing his balance and impairing the bird not killing it. How could he lose his balance you say? Well, he is a big boned man, involved in a football game where his attention was undoubtedly focused on the what was happening on the field, and his balance was skewed because something was under his foot. A freakin' accident I say, a freakin' accident!!

But all it takes is some dumb, jerk of an individual to call an raise hell about this pheasant's plight and put this coach's character in question. Character of which I understand is high, and commended by those associated with him. To top it all off, this has made national news. Un-freakin' believable!! Look at what the head of the Utah Humane Society said:"We’re gratified to see the authorities taking this incident seriously," said HSU Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt. "This was a cruel, callous act that traumatized a lot of spectators at the game. There was no excuse for committing an act like that. We believe that it showed extremely poor judgment for a person in a position of leadership to do what the Viewmont coach is alleged to have done, and we hope that the Davis County School District will also become involved in taking disciplinary action."

Hey Gene, I have been in a few of your facilities and have seen crap piled high, and in-humane conditions there which traumatized me too, but I don't sensationilze it. Focus on your facilities and what is important there, not what happens to a pheasant which by the way are a dime a dozen and are legal to shoot........hmmmmm better go after all the hunters Gene. Gene, you better track down all the owners of gold fish for flushing them down the toilet. Poor judgment Gene is questioning someone's character without discussing the matter directly with those involved, not the local reporter or news covering the story, who by the way have nothing better to do. Word has it Gene, that a person of leadership at that game I believe a vice-principal at the home field (that would be the epitome of leadership, second to the principal wouldn't it Gene?) that snapped the neck of this pheasant in front of fans and threw it in the garbage.

My point is this. It was a High School football game, high school kids threw a pheasant on the field, a pheasant died. End of story.
